Dr. Pamela Cummings, B.S., D.C., explains the common reason behind many
headaches, chronic neck and should pains, persistent problems with back,
hip, arm, and/or leg:
These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a
result of compromised muscles forming adhesions.
This usually occurs in one of three different ways:
1. a sudden or acute injury
2. a cumulative or chronic injury
3. a pressure injury from external forces like poor posture
The purpose of natural pain therapy is to
relieve the body of adhesions and scar tissue which can form when soft
tissue structures are exposed to damaging forces.
This method is based on scientific evidence, that muscles, nerves, blood
vessels and connective tissue develop adhesions within, around and between
them after acute, repetitive injuries and chronic irritations.
Some conditions will respond soon after treatment begins-many times
significant improvement is attained on the first visit.
Too often, people with these types of injuries go an entire lifetime
without relief.
What is a treatment like?
The initial session is actually a combination of examination and treatment.
No special equipment is needed, only experienced hands dependent upon the
practitioners’ knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and most importantly
touch, to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia,
tendons, ligaments and nerves.
Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with
very specific patient movements.
Depending on the preference of the
patient, pressure may be adjusted to alleviate discomfort.
Your specific condition will be discussed with you and a personalized
program of stretches and/or exercises will be prescribed for you to guide
you into returning your body to proper biomechanics and to eliminate the
postural and repetitive injuries.
Additional sessions will be to assess and determine progress and treat as
needed.
